We hit 98° on Sunday afternoon in Huntsville with 97° in the Shoals. Don’t look for much relief this week as highs stay in the middle to upper 90s. Heat index values reach the 105° category both today and Tuesday. There is a heat advisory in effect for parts of the viewing audience this afternoon.
Here is a look at your “feels like” temperature this afternoon. We could easily be in the 105° range for around three hours today. A similar forecast is expected on Tuesday. We have middle to upper 90s everyday in the extended forecast.
With a large high pressure ridge overhead, the chance of showers and storms is a small one today. Though one or two storms pop up, they could be strong to severe with damaging winds and hail. If you are across northeast Alabama, you have a greater chance of getting wet today. Tomorrow will be a different story as the storm track shifts down to the southeast. With that, the chance of stormy weather increases for most of the Tennessee Valley. Late Tuesday afternoon into the evening will be best chance of getting severe storms. There is a moderate risk of severe weather to our north today with a slight risk for our area tomorrow.
